Thames Drains has recently invested a substantial amount in new high-tech equipment. This enables us to dewater sludge from both sewerage treatment plants and septic tanks. The dewater sludge when turned to dry solids is only 23% of the original quantity. The dry solids can then be treated in a variety of ways including lime stabilisation to allow it to be land spread, composted, or landfilled. Therefore this new equipment is a very effective and environmentally friendly way to empty septic tanks and grease traps and is recognised as a natural renewable source.
